Falsehood of Islam By: Bijla Singh IntroductionThis article is written in response to an article written by Muslims on sikhs2islam.com website questioning the true path of Sikhi. This article will not only answer the objections and questions raised by Muslims but also show them the true face of Islam which is nowhere near tolerance, peace, equality and justice as falsely preached by Muslims. We invite our Muslim brothers to read it with an open mind so that they can understand Sikhi, a true way of life, and realize that Islam is a religion of an age when ignorance reigned supreme. Green color represents quote directly taken from the Muslim website. Point 1 - Equality in Sikhi A) Muslims have failed to understand the concept of Khalsa and resorted to misinterpreting the translation. Khalsa is an image of Guru Sahib. Guru Ji said: "The Khalsa is my true form, I abide within the Khalsa" Khalsa is he who only worships One Almighty, Waheguru and always follows the truth. In his heart, light of Waheguru always shines. The quote used by Muslims in no way claims that Khalsa is superior to others. It is merely describing qualities of a Khalsa and requirements for whosoever desires to become a member of Khalsa. Furthermore, the quote also rejects false and blind rituals such as pilgrimage and fasting but nowhere in the quote is it applied that those who engage in such rituals are inferior. Throughout Gurbani, Guru Sahib has stated that no human being is superior to the other as everyone has the same creator and same source of existence. From the One Light, the entire universe welled up. So who is good, and who is bad? ||1|| (Ang 1349) Nowhere in Gurbani is it stated that Sikhs are superior and others are inferior. Message of Guru Sahib is for everyone and does not make any distinction between human beings. Guru Gobind Singh Ji (whose quote Muslims deliberately misinterpreted) states that: "The temple or the mosque are the same, the Hindu worship or the Musalman prayer are the same; all men are the same; it is through error they appear different. Deities, demons, Yakshas, heavenly singers, Musalmans and Hindus adopt the customary dress of their different countries. All men have the same eyes, the same ears, the same body, the same build, a compound of earth, air, fire, and water. Allah and Abhekh are the same, the Purans and the Quran are the same; they are all alike; it is the one God who created all. The Hindu God and the Muhammadan God are the same; let no man even by mistake suppose there is a difference." (Guru Gobind Singh, Akal Ustat, pg. 275) Therefore, it is clear that only blind rituals and false beliefs are rejected not people as human beings. Sikhi and Homosexuality Bijla Singh would have us believe that Sikhism is open to all, and God will accept all, including homosexuals. However, this is proven a fallacy by the actions of the World Sikh Group, the Akal Takht, who state regarding homosexuality : "The advice given by the highest Sikh temporal authority to every Sikh is saying that it is unnatural and ungodly, and the Sikh religion cannot support it."This once again shows how narrow-minded and shortsighted Muslims really are. Sikhi teaches that Waheguru is without hatred (Nivair) and He loves everyone including homosexuals and atheists as nothing can exist without His will. It is absurd to believe that Waheguru (God) hates those who do not believe in Him. Sikhi embraces all and every single human being but this does not mean that Sikhi accepts their beliefs and practices. Rejection of an unholy and unnatural act such as homosexuality is totally different from rejection of a human being. In other words, homosexuality and gay marriage is against the teaching of Sikhi which is why such practices are rejected but this in no way is preaching hatred towards homosexuals. Homosexuals are allowed to become Sikhs so long they denounce their practice of homosexuality and adopt the Sikh way of life. This requirement applies to everyone equally. Akal Takhat Sahib rejected homosexuality not homosexuals as human beings.Like any other religion, it promises a reward or spiritual attainment and fulfillment for those that adhere to it, and promises castigation and punishment for those that do not. In response to this, the following Tuk (quote) from Gurbani is more than enough: The body is the field of action, in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga; as you plant, so shall you harvest… O Siblings of Destiny, behold the justice of the True Creator; as people act, so they are rewarded. (Ang 308) Who will be rewarded and saved by Waheguru? Here is the answer: “Those enshrined the True Name within their heart, those within is the flowing current of Naam, and those whose consciousness is attached to the vibrations of the Guru's Baani obtain all comforts and liberation from Maya (the illusionary world). O Nanak! Without the Naam, no one is saved; You too swim across to the other side this true way in which there no chance of drowning. ||9||7||” (Ang 1013) Sikhi makes it clear that without obtaining Naam no one will be saved even if one is born in a Sikh family. By obtaining Naam and living true way of life as taught by Guru Sahib one will be saved. Salvation is the true reward and there is no special reward such as 72 virgins and rivers of wine reserved for Sikhs in paradise. It has been proven that Sikhi does not preach hatred towards non-Sikhs. However, the same cannot be said of Islam which is founded on the principle of inequality. Let’s examine some of inequalities preached by Islam.
i) Hatred against Non-Muslims Instead of preaching love, Islam teaches and spews unlimited amount of hatred towards non-Muslims. "Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends. They are friends with one another. Whoever of you seeks their friendship shall become one of their number. Allah does not guide the wrongdoers." (5:51) According to Muslims the above verse is applicable only during war time which is far from the truth. The following verses make it crystal clear what the implied meanings are. "Mohammed is Allah's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (48:29) "When the sacred months are over slay the idolaters wherever you find them. Arrest them, besiege them, and lie in ambush everywhere for them. If they repent and take to prayer and pay the alms-tax, let them go their way. Allah is forgiving and merciful." (9:5) And slay them (the infidels) wherever you catch them, and turn them out from where they have turned you out, for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter. (2:193) "O Prophet! Make war against the unbelievers [all non-Muslims] and the hypocrites and be merciless against them. Their home is hell, an evil refuge indeed." (9:73) "In order that Allah may separate the pure from the impure, put all the impure ones [all non-Muslims] one on top of another in a heap and cast them into hell. They will have been the ones to have lost." (8:37) Hence it is clear that Muslims are obligated to be ruthless and merciless to non-Muslims. Message of violence preached by Islam against non-Muslims is nowhere found in the Sikh beliefs. No one is my enemy, and no one is a stranger. I get along with everyone. ||1|| (Ang 1299) It has been stated before that Sikhi rejects anti-Sikhi practices but does not speak ill of any human being and does not preach killing or harming them.
ii) Superiority of a Muslim over Non-Muslim The life of a Muslim is considered superior to that of a non-Muslim, so much so that whilst a non-Muslim killing a Muslim would be executed, the reverse would not occur. I asked 'Ali "Do you have anything Divine literature besides what is in the Qur'an?" Or, as Uyaina once said, "Apart from what the people have?" 'Ali said, "By Him Who made the grain split (germinate) and created the soul, we have nothing except what is in the Qur'an and the ability (gift) of understanding Allah's Book which He may endow a man with, and what is written in this sheet of paper." I asked, "What is on this paper?" He replied, "The legal regulations of Diya (Blood-money) and the (ransom for) releasing of the captives, and the judgment that no Muslim should be killed in Qisas (equality in punishment) for killing a Kafir (disbeliever)." (Bukhari, Narrated by Abu Juhaifa) This is highly contrary to the Sikh beliefs. Guru Sahib teaches to respect other human beings with equality and honor as the light of Waheguru resides in everyone. The Divine Light is within everyone; You are that Light. (Ang 663) Recognize ye the whole human race as one. (Guru Gobind Singh Ji) iii) Jizya – Tax for Non-Muslims Non-Muslims living in Islamic countries are forced to pay Jizya, a poll-tax in exchange for protection of their life, liberty and property. After paying Jizya (depending on wealth) non-Muslims are allowed to practice their religion under certain conditions. This rule makes it crystal clear that Islam does not recognize all human beings as one but considers non-Muslims to be inferior. Fight those who believe not in God nor the last day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by God and His Apostle, nor acknowledge the religion of truth, (even if they are) of the people of the Book [Bible], until they pay the jizya with willing submission, until they pay the tribute out of hand and have been humbled (humiliated). Jews call Uzair [Ezra] a son of God, and the Christians call Christ the Son of God ... God’s curse be on them; (9: 29-31) ... Jews and the Christians ...should be forced to pay Jizya in order to put an end to their independence and supremacy so that they should not remain rulers and sovereigns in the land. These powers should be wrested from them by the followers of the true Faith, who should assume the sovereignty and lead others towards the Right Way. (Mawdudi, S. Abul A'la, The Meaning of the Qur'an, vol 2, page 183.) Therefore, Islam openly advocates suppressing non-Muslims and keeping them as slaves. iv) Freedom of Choice – Hell for Non-Muslims Most Western countries today guarantee complete religious liberty. In other words, a person is perfectly free to hold or change his opinions, or even hold no religious opinions whatsoever. Under Islamic law, however, this is not the case. A person is free to become a Muslim but he has no right to leave Islam and adopt any other faith. In such case, he faces death penalty in this world and in the next world, hell awaits them. "Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home: an evil fire. They swear by God that they said nothing. Yet they uttered the word of unbelief and renounced Islam after embracing it. They sought to do what they could not attain. Yet they had no reason to be spiteful except perhaps because God and His apostle had enriched them through His bounty. If they repent, it will indeed be better for them, but if they give no heed, God will sternly punish them, both in this world and in the world to come. They shall have none on this earth to protect or help them." (Sura 9:73-74 ) Narrated Ikrima, "Some atheists were brought to Ali and he burnt them. The news of this event, reached Ibn Abbas who said, "If I had been in his place, I would not have burnt them, as Allah's messenger forbade it, saying, "Do not punish anybody with Allah's punishment (fire)." I would have killed them according to the statement of Allah's Messenger, "Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him." "It is reported by `Abaas ... that the messenger of Allah ... said, `Whosoever changes his religion (from Islam to any other faith), kill him." (Hadith Al-Bukhari) This proves that Islam forbids a person to make his own choice and determine what is best for him. On the other hand, Sikhi does not condemn non-Sikhs to hell. Instead, their destiny is determined by their karma (actions). As one plants, so does he harvest; the body is the field of actions. (Ang 706)
v) Gender Inequality Islam greatly favors men over women and gives them more rights. ‘Man is more perfect than the woman in creation, and intelligence, and in the religious sphere, such as the suitability to be a judge, and a leader in worship. Also, the testimony of the man is twice that of the woman. So that whoever is given great responsibilities must be given correspondingly great privileges. As the woman is deficient in intelligence and of great lust, if she is given much money, much corruption will be the result.’ Further support to this view can be found in the Hadith (Ibn Kathir, Commenting on Q. 4:34, this Hadith is also reported by Abu Dawood and al-Nisa'I and Ibn Magah.), the second most important book for Muslims. The Verse above leaves no doubt that Quran considers men to be more intelligent and superior than women by birth. Women have less rights when it comes to testimony, inheritance and decision making process. More of this will be discussed later in this article. The list of inequalities in Islam is a long one but above few points without a doubt prove that Islam is full of inequalities and a religion of injustice. On the contrary, Sikhi teaches humanity to love each other regardless of religion, or race. Sikhi does not teach hatred towards non-Sikhs and does not condemn them to hell just because they belong to a different religion. A Sikh prays at least twice daily for "Sarbat Da Bhallaa", meaning the good and prosperity of all Humanity regardless of religion, belief or faith. "May the Divine-Name preached by Nanak be exalted. May all prosper and be blessed within Your Will." (Daily Sikh Ardaas) Muslims should consider themselves lucky to have such a beautiful path offered to them. It is for their own benefit to give up the incomplete and imperfect religion of Islam and adopt the Sikh way of life. |
